Questions: spatial units, levels of measurement (How to see
them)

Highway maps
Isolines (contours) [not really about the lines at all!]
Flow maps (use size in proportion to "flow")
Area Symbols

Examples:
- Choropleth maps (attributes poured into arbitrary units)
- Area-filled contours ("hypsometric tints") [surfaces
as contour steps]
- Categorical coverages (objects tailored to the attribute
categories)
