Goals of event
This event did not occur at Lecture 2 (Instructor got to carried away...). This is provided now as a thought experiment, and study tool.
Maps can be decomposed into the three components: time, space and attribute. The most complex is "attribute". Here will will examine some maps and have you work out how to understand what is on the map.
Take any random set of maps...
For each map, enter its name (briefly), and which "layer" of the map you are describing. Do the primary layer for a given map first. (Some maps have only one layer, other have multiple layers, the TA will help you if you need to decide.) Enter how time is handled, what the spatial units are, and what kind of attribute it is (use the levels of measurement: nominal, ordinal, interval, ratio PLUS the raw/derived issues; give the UNITS of measure if applicable). Under Symbol, describe how the how the symbols are manipulated. Remarks is for other observations (Try to label each map with a Measurement Framework here).
