Objectives:
Provide a hands-on view of the reference systems in use in
traditional cartography
Prepare for Discussion 1 by assigning
students to teams by NUMBER

- Topographic sheets
- Old style and "modern" photogrammetry
- Sources updated piecemeal
- Nautical Charts
- Parcel maps (and administrative sources)

- Locating the metadata:
- Datum
- Projection
- Multiple Graticules
- Topographic quads
Attribute
- Continuous Attributes
- Vertical Elevation (Vertical Datum, etc.)
- Units of measure
- Ratios and derived densities
- Discrete Attributes
- Classification systems
- Land Use / Land Cover
- Soils Series/ Associations, etc.
- Names for Objects
- Streets, Highways, Streams
- Parcel Ids, etc.
- Watersheds (hierarchical aggregates)
